Hi all, My husband and I will be laying tile for the first time starting in two or three weeks. This is our first time laying tile but we are both very handy and I have watched tile being laid many many times from watching my dad to watching the pros on my various Job sites. Looking for any words of wisdom anyone has to offer. Some info: The tile we got is Florida tile magnolia line 8"x36". Any suggestions on mortar would be appreciated. the grout i think we will go with is Laticrete spectralock pro in espresso. The house was built in 1976 and we will be ripping up ceramic tile, laminate wood flooring and carpet before we lay new tile. No idea what is underneath. could be hardwood (in which case we will ditch the tile and refinish the hardwood assuming its in good condition) could be plywood subfloor, could be more tile! anyone thing it would be necessary to use a leveling agent? i know large format tiles can be a pain to level and avoid lippage. tips?? any info or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
