I bought an Eddie Bauer down jacket about a year ago. I was careful not to get it dirty or smelly so I wouldn't have to wash it, but despite my best efforts, I was recently forced to throw it in the washer. I followed the washing instructions to the letter, and yet as I was afraid, it shrunk. I can still put it on and zip it up no problem, but you can now see the shape of the liner through the outer shell, which imo looks goofy.
Since this was the first time I washed it, does this sound like reasonable grounds for returning it? To be clear, I'm not just asking whether they will take it back---I also don't want to abuse their return policy. On the assumption that they take it back, does it sound like I would be abusing their policy given that the item is about a year old?
