I own 14,000 shares of my employers stock worth north of $700,000.00 in my 401k. This is large part of my 401k. I know this is risky but it has been on a 10 year run and just could not bring myself to sell it. The bad news is I am soon going to be 63 yo. I want to liquidate it. It is a NASDAQ company with average volume of 50-60k. I have no restrictions on selling it. My thoughts are to sell 1000 shares a week for 3 months and allocate the proceeds to 5 different funds with a focus on stability. Does this make sense?
