So, here's the thing, my SO and I are students and each work multiple jobs. In most of our lives we are very frugal (like REALLY frugal). The only challenge area we have is eating out. We cut out going out to eat entirely for a few months and, while we saved money, we were miserable. We both enjoy eating out, and it is usually how we socialize with our friend groups. When we were eating at home, if we meal-prepped we would get tired of the same thing for too long so we couldn't cook in big batches and lost that benefit from cooking at home. If we meal prepped some of our meals and ate out others, we could never judge quite right how often we would eat out and either have food waste at home or wind up with nothing left for the weekend.
Any advice on how to balance this? We agreed we are happy having meals with friends be our splurge category in our budget, but how do we keep the remaining meal costs, waste, and effort down?
Thanks!
