So I've got a 2008 Toyota Prius with 75k on it that's fully loaded that I'm getting for work. I put 120k miles on a car yearly. Price is 6,300 out the door.

I've considered things like a cheaper Ford escape hybrid or Ford fusion hybrid but I wasn't expecting a low mileage Toyota with creature comforts to roll my way at a cheap price.

At 10,000 miles a month I'm buying about 400 gallons of gasoline a month for my current car, a Mercury Grand Marquis I'm letting go of since it's at 200k, been in several accidents, is leaking coolant through the intake manifold ~800$ repair, and the suspension chews through tires ~900 repair.

At about 50 mpg with a Prius I'm saving about 400$ just on gas a month, insurance is a hundred cheaper too.

Based on it being a Toyota I'm expecting minimal upkeep outside scheduled maintenance, at 7,500 miles a year of use by previous owner I'm guessing this car has been babied. The interior has held up well too.

Based on this I'm expecting about 6k in savings a year at least, with the 100 bucks I spend every month on tires and the 100$ in coolant a month being more than enough to equal scheduled Toyota maintenance, and the 6k coming from 400$ in gas and 100$ in insurance.

P.s. if anyone has a guess from education or experience at how long this car might last I'd appreciate it!
