Yesterday SEC Chairman gave a speech on "Governance and Transparency at the Commission and in Our Markets", its main focus was retail investors' proxy participation rate. Here is the main takeaway on our participation rate:

"In the 2017 proxy season, retail shareholders beneficially-owned 30% of the shares in U.S. public companies; however, only 29% of those shares voted. This may be a signal that our proxy process is too cumbersome for retail investors and needs updating." http://ift.tt/2AkyqEo

I would love to know what your thoughts are on proxy voting? Do you vote them? Can retail proxy voting sway any decisions made by inside stockholders and institutional money?

Personally never vote them, I feel that I don't have the time to be sufficiently knowledgeable on all proxy issues.
