How do you folks feel about purchasing stock in Discover? The credit card/finance company always seem like the forgotten credit card out of the big 3-5 credit cards in the United States.

I’m a big believer in owning/buying stock in companies that you enjoy and feel comfortable using yourself in addition to doing the proper research beforehand. Discover was my first credit card and honestly is my favorite card to use. The support, ease of us, decent deals/rewards, nice phone app, and general feel/use of company has been great for me thus far in the few years I’ve used them. The Card, company, and app are also all very user friendly with first time users which I think is another plus. We’ve seen some awesome success with VISA and I think credit card companies are only going to grow and improve as we rely more on digital payment/finance. Am I wrong in thinking Discover doesn’t quite get the respect or attention it deserves in comparison to its peers?

The biggest obstacle I see with them is that they have yet to break into the same level as Visa or MasterCard in regards to acceptance and user base. It seems like they’ve struggled a bit in promoting themselves better to both vendors and card holders with vendors weary of fees and users simply deciding to go with bigger names. Can this be looked at as potential? Can they get on the level of the other top dogs on this industry, both with users and vendors?

Do you believe the company is fairly valued and has potential to grow similarly to how companies like Visa or MasterCard? Is there something I’m overlooking or not seeing big time? Would you purchase?
