I’ll add details below for anyone curious, but I more or less need to drop contact with my manipulative mother after the death of my father. I have my birth certificate, my vehicle will he put into my name after the estate settles (hopefully), I have my own rented home, insurance, tax records, bank account that her friend in the bank can’t monitor, career that she has no influence over, social security card. That’s what I have so far, planning to procure some of my dad’s belongings to give to my children in the future. I am wondering if the Reddit community will point out something I have overlooked. I’m terrified I have missed something. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!
The story: my mother is a manipulative woman... almost drove my dad to suicide, then he had a heart attack and died before Christmas. My mother remarried the day after his birthday 10 months after he died, she did not tell me she eloped until two weeks after the fact. I don’t want her to be able to manipulate me in the future so I am dropping contact after the estate is settled. I won’t have poison affect my future family. Mentally I’m good, just planning ahead for me and trying to figure out how I can help my little sister (17) as well. For now, we are both playing along till we can break free. Thanks again!
