I have three cards with AMEX that I've developed some good history with, putting large charges on them and PIF before the next billing cycle. Recently though I've been going through some life changes and have been running up close to the limit on my Blue Cash Everyday (the others are not carrying a balance). I've been carrying a balance on it for about three months.

I made a large payment on it a few days ago and just last night AMEX cut my credit line on this card to just above the current balance. This is my first time ever having a credit line cut and I have 10 credit cards. They reduced it from $2k to $1,400 so it's not a huge drop but still

What's going on here? Someone told me they might continue chasing my credit line down as I keep paying it off, until I barely have a line at all
