Hello, BIFL!

My major criteria for backpacks are:

-Able to carry, safely, my 13.3" laptop

-Water resistant to keep paper materials safe

-Light and comfortable to carry

-Simple, non-offensive design

-No real leather

-Long lasting (~7-10 years would be perfectly good enough for me, but I certainly wouldn't mind even longer lasting ones)

-Preferably, no more than 50 USD, but I will spend more if that will get me what I need.

I've been seeing all over this subreddit comments and posts praising Jansport backpacks for being a budget BIFL pack and so I've decided to shop for one. The Jansport Superbreak seems to fit a lot of my most significant criteria (nice and simple look, no real leather, quite cheap, seems light and comfortable to carry, has good dimensions to carry my laptop and books)

My main issue with it is that I'm not clear if it will actually be good with protecting against water; as I do sometimes have to walk around my college campus, even in rainy weather.

I also wonder if it's good for protecting laptops.

I've read that Fjallraven Kanken backpacks have good water resistance, my issue with those are the price.

Thanks!
