Call me crazy, but it used to be the case that you could get a decent mp3 player that just had some basic functions but they simply worked well and as expected? Nowadays the software seems garbage and the little processors are missing features that used to be standard.
Here's the features I'm looking for -- desperately, by now:
- Small and light. It should easily fit into a jeans pocket.
- Blindly usable. The basic functions of next, previous, pause, and volume control should be usable without looking at it (i.e., no touch screen if at all possible).
- Podcast friendly. Ideally it should remember where podcasts / ebooks where paused and when a podcast is selected, play is resumed from there. That should hold even if something else is played in between (i.e., play podcast -> pause -> play song -> play podcast -> podcast is resumed).
- FAST forward. When the Fast Forward button is kept pressed, fast forwarding should continuously speed up. Every player used to have that, but nowadays that's some kind of sci-fi feature..?!
- No software required. Simply plug it into any PC and it works like a simple USB stick.
This should be possible, I feel like I'm describing a basic mp3 player from just a few years back, but so far I've been unable to find a new one that actually does all of that.
Help, please o_O
