Hi,My house is a split level, and I'm planning to replace the carpet on the upper level with laminate flooring. Since I have people living on the lower level, my objective is to minimize as much noise as possible. Here is what I see when I peel up the carpet[IMG]http://ift.tt/2hY0GJ7 have a few questions:So the greenish funny looking layer must be the underlayment for the carpet? Should I retain that as part of the subfloor and put underlayment on top of it?What kind of wood is my subfloor? Is there anything I need to consider with this kind of wood?Since reducing noise as much as possible, I want to use good underlayment, and not the underlayment that come with the plank. What is a good underlayment brand I should look into?Right now with the carpet, the floor still make some squeaky noise when I walk over it. Does that mean the wood subfloor is not level/hard-sturdy/thick enough? After reading online, sounds like 12mm is what I should use if I want to reduce noise. Is it really the case?Glossy vs. non-glossy, what are the pro and cons?Thank you via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2gjPhiX
