I know, I know. I don't want to do it either but family, healthcare and other issues mean I have to start commuting 50 miles or so each way starting in a week. Right now I work from home, so it's a big change.

We'll probably move closer at some point.

Okay so what car to get? They have electric charging at my employer.

A used Nissan leaf will just about get there. I know the leaf says 107 miles range, but, there are hills. I used to have a leaf so I know 107 really means 80 or so depending on weather and stuff. But as soon as I lose a few bars on the battery, the leaf won't make it.

A used volt seems like it'd do better, but then it has the gas engine with 101 parts that will break.

The 2018 leaf looks a lot better, but then I'd have to buy a new one.

The Chevy Bolt looks fine, just not very available.

The Tesla Model 3 looks fine but not available until 2019. And I'd rather buy used.

So, maybe I want a cheap gas car? I had hoped to go electric for this but it looks like we're not quite there?

FYI my car is an old-model Honda Ridgline. Perfectly fine for what it is, but maybe not for 100 miles a day and trying to cut costs.

Thanks for any advice.
