Hello. I am new to investing. I am confused about the Term Asset Allocation. Example. Let say I have 1000 dollars to invest. I'd ideally would like a portfolio made up of: 10% bonds 70% A stocks 20% B stocks

The question is does asset allocation mean Dollar amount in each location- [$100 bonds, $700 A stocks, $200 B stocks].

Or does it mean the number of shares you can purchase for each then divided by the total amount of shares to equal close to the ideal percentage?

Can someone please clear this up for me. Much appreciated! Thanks!
