So we built our own house 6 years ago and someone had this wise idea for how to do our sewage pump. The pump is in our house in the basement furnace room and it has a line in and out of it and the floats are run from the top of the tank attached to a peice of pipe. I can't express how much trouble this has cause us. First of all two years ago when our first pump failed my grandfather and uncle replaced it but forgot to tighten down a hose clamp enough, this ended badly. But the biggest problem is that the float cords slip over time until the pump either won't kick in or won't kick out. Also the high level float ALWAYS fails to go off because it slips to high and hits the top of the tank. This means that every 4 to 8 months the floats have to be pulled out and readjusted again. If the floats slip and no one notices either the pump can run dry for a while or worse sewage water starts to seap in through the floor drain. There's got to be a better way for floats. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xS0X6F
