I posted previously about this and thanks to all the great replies I managed to do my first ever DIY project: a narrow side table to help my wife who constantly nurses our newborn and needed a place for her phone, water, etc. Here’s the album: http://ift.tt/2xFxkBq table was built out of Walnut I got from Home Depot and came out better than I could have hoped given it was the first time I’ve done anything DIY let alone with wood work. It’s super basic but I’m super thrilled with it.It’s 5” wide, 21” Tall and 20” deep. Basically perfect for being next to our couch to fill the gap between the wall.I learned about pocket screws and bought a Kreg Jig. Wow this thing is super cool and can finally understand how wood is easily joined. Thanks to everyone who suggested this in my previous post!During the process I learned a lot about holding pieces of wood together, including different types of clamps. I bought some Irwin quick release clamps but those didn’t help much since they weren’t wide enough. I then got a tip about a pipe clamp, which again I didn’t know existed. I dropped by Home Depot and got a pair of 3/4” pipe clamps and 3’ of black iron pipe. Problem solved! It held the wood together like a champ for me to screw in the pocket screws. Thanks again to everyone for their help. I love his sub, especially as a safe way to ask really basic questions from a guy in his 30s who feels like he should know more about this stuff :) via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2yjtOON
