I am doing a bathroom remodeling project that involves tiling all walls. I will be using large format porcelain tiles with 1/2" Hardie Backer CBU. I imagine the walls will be bearing a significant weight, but two of them have a metal framing. The studs seem to be light gauge and I very much doubt they will be able to hold the backer board with the tile. My plan is to sister the metal studs with wood studs. The metal studs are 2x8.Should I be using 2x8 wooden studs or a different/smaller size?Do I hang the backer board on wood studs or metal studs? Or alternate between the two?Do I want to attach the wood to the top plate and/or sole plate as well? What type of fasteners are usually used to sister wood to metal? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xRaeuM
