Before I bought these, I went through 3 pairs of TOMS relatively quickly (at $50-$70 a piece, mind you.) because I was convinced the problem was me, not the shoes. I figured I must walk weird, or was too rough on them, or wasn't taking care of them properly. FWIW I commute on the bus to work which includes a third of a mile walk before and after, rain or shine, walk 12k+ steps a day, and basically wear nothing but these shoes. I've hiked in them, camped in them, endured Harvey with them, etc. They've gone through a beating.
Then someone on here recommended the knock-off Target version to me (MadLove's Lydia Shoe) and for $20 I figured 'what the heck' and bought a pair to replace my TOMS. This was probably in June or July, at the latest.
Let me tell you, at this point my TOMS would be getting ready to be replaced, and so embarrassing looking I would hide my feet at work as much as possible. But these shoes, aside from smelling a bit (which putting a green tea bag in them overnight takes care of, FYI), are in similar condition to the day I got them. With no babying.
I just wanted to recommend these for anyone who likes the look/functionality of TOMS or minimal shoes in general, but hate the price tag and the complete lack of durability. Next time they're on sale I think I'll add a second pair to my rotation.
