Just looking for a little bit of advice here on how to handle the situation I'm in. I gave my two weeks notice to my current employer today as I have accepted a job offer with a different company. In my current position I do have knowledge and experience that no one else at the company has. As such, my current employer has asked me to stay on at the company beyond the two weeks that I have given notice for. How should I be approaching this situation?
- Beyond the two weeks, if I'm being paid my current wage, I would rather be working at the new company to get things started there. Is it within reason to be asking for more money than I'm currently making for additional time that I spend at my current company?
- This might be company specific, but would it ever be acceptable to propose working only a few days a week at my old company to aid in the transition process?
