So I recently went to the furniture store to buy a new mattress. While I was there I checked out the headboards and was pretty shocked by the prices. After deciding I was too poor/cheap to buy one I decided to try making my own. I should've probably spent more time planning because I very much just winged it. I had roughly 3 hours of work total not counting the time it took for coats of paint to dry. After a $30 trip to Lowe's this is what I came up with! I had a pile of old boards, some gray material, a mattress topper and some paint already. All I had to buy was the wood for the back of the pads, some staples, corner brackets and a box of wood screws. This is the finished headboard! ImgurHere is where I started. I laid everything out after I cut everything to get an idea of where I was headed. ImgurThis is the finished frame before I added the pads. Protip: Old trucks make great work benches. ImgurThese are the finished pads. ImgurAfter I threw it all together! ImgurI'm really happy with how it all turned out since I have almost no experience working with wood.
