I have bought a fairing kit made from fiberglass for my motorbike, so far I have different opinions on how to prep and prime the fiberglass. Some websites state etch primer is fine (this was first suggested to me by my college tutor) while others say etch primer can damage the fiberglass.Prepping the fiberglass before primer is also something I'm confused with, which grit sand paper? I know it needs to be decreased thoroughly but the grit sand paper is confusing, some say 180 or 220 and some 400.Between each coat of primer, which grit sand paper should I use and also during the colour coating process, which grit should be used?I also want to spray these fairings with a design that has long red lines but mainly black. Should I do the first coats of colour as red and then tape it off and finish with black? This way to me seems easier.Any help is appreciated, cheers.EDIT: forgot to add that the fairing kit will come in white gel coating, if this changes anything. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2fPqMcI
