I am building a 32x32 5050 5v RGB addressable LED display for the back of my coat. I'm adding 2 smaller single LEDs (adafruit Flora Neopixel V2s) and I'm controlling all of this through an arduino (either Teensy2.0++ or Uno). I'd like my build to be expandable in the future. But, I'm running into some issues in finding the best way to power all of this. The LED panel will consist of 4 of these: http://ift.tt/2yjPRrw LED could draw 20mA and each light is 3 LEDS for a 60mA max. With 1024 total LEDs on this panel alone, the draw could get egregious. The specs indicate 75W which divides down to 25A if I'm remembering correctly. Further, the PCB is only rated for 15A total so I'll cap the total max brightness down quite a bit anyway. But, I'm having a real hard time figuring out what sort of battery I can use at all. I can look up the voltage and the Amp/hr but I cannot really find any info on reasonable max Amp ratings for most particular batteries. I recall from school that capacitors discharge quickly and batteries slowly but I do not recall how to figure out any the specifics. I intend to have at least two power supplies (for balanced weight on the coat) but could just as easily make it 4. I'd love to use a USB battery (because I can find some that are water resistant ish - it's a coat) but I cannot seem to find any that cover more than about 2.8A which is woefully low. Does anyone have any electrical experience in this area? I really don't want to weld my back if I choose the wrong image (obviously, I'll actually test first but problems in the field ...).Current thoughts (neither sounds great): D cells in both parallel and series - 3 in series to get to 4.5V and maybe 3 in parallel for longevity? This is really in a early stage.A couple of motorcycle batteries (say something like: http://ift.tt/2fHpQqM ) but the amperage is wrong and I'd need some resistors to bring down the voltage. This also is in an early stage.I am not averse to wiring in capacitors, resistors or, in general, making a harness but I'm not exactly sure what all to add together to get what I want. I assume a lithium battery will be lighter but I'm doubtful I can actually make one of those.Any tips/help on the battery front? Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xQhB44
