Semi-novice, long term investor (I've only made perhaps 20 trades in the past 7 years) here trying to prepare the move from Google Finance (shutting down) to another online portfolio to be determined. I am going through my tax records to document all my transactions. I am trying to figure out how to document what was defined as a merger. Here are the details:
Transaction Type - Symbol - Date - Shares - Price Paid - Amount
BUY - S (Sprint Nextel Corporation) - 4/26/10 - 257 - $4.3 - $1,016.07
MERGER - S (Sprint Nextel Corporation) - 7/11/13 - 234 - (blank) - $1,321.55
BUY - S (Sprint Corporation) - 7/12/13 - 196 - $6.55 - $1,293.46
Sorry I'm not an expert on formatting. As you can see, I bought some Sprint stock in 2010, it merged on 7/11, and I bought some more the next day. Am I in the right place for assistance?
