.. when you have friends and family members who seem to spend like there is no tomorrow? Sometimes it can be frustrating seeing people spend their money so freely on new things, while you forgo them to save? Also, while hearing these same people complain about how they are "poor". For instance, my SIL who spent thousands on new furniture, got a new roomba, even though her nice cordless dison is less than two yrs old, has gone on expensive bachelorette party weekends all this yr and we have to hear about how she "underpaid" at her job from my in laws. It's like, umm well she is living larger than we are so I don't see why she gets such sympathy - I'm thinking it's bc she complains about not having money to her parents. It can be annoying bc we could technically spend money this way, but choose not to bc having savings for a rainy day and staying out of debt is important to us. It can be hard to not want to just throw in the towel and live like these people. How do you stay motivated to not "keep up with the joneses" when it seems like they live the high life and sometimes get rewarded and bailed out for it (in the case of my sil)?
