Bought a new home that included wiring from wall to behind TV above the fireplace. However, components are taking up space and I'd like to clear it all up by hiding it out of view. The idea that I have to install an enclosure in the wall between the studs for the HDMI/Coax/etc. outlets and components. However, the power outlet is on the other side of the stud and I'd like to hide the power strip as well. The plan was to drill a 1-1.5" in the wall stud and pass the plug through for a power strip. The plug would be snaked through into a new receptacle replacing the current outlet.Overall images of wall/outlets hereAs I was researching online I read that there are certain guidelines to follow when drilling into studs so I wanted to pass this by the /r/DIY crew for better insight before I move forward.EDIT: Will not be running the power cord. Looking into the moving the outlet over, or I'll just run the power cord from outside and have it show. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2hIAxgV
