Currently living at my parents home. I pay my own bills except for home rent. Just got a job offer paying $120k a year so I'm beginning to think about moving out. Found an apartment a block from work at $3,100/month just for rent and another $400 for utility/internet and parking space so looking around $3,500/month realistically. That's 42k in rent which bumps down my net from 84k/yr to a mere 42k and thats not including other expenses.
The commute from my parents home to work is around 25 miles so 50 miles round trip. Currently leasing a car for $1,300/month and i'm getting close to my allowed miles. They are charging me $0.30 a mile so i'm looking at another $4000 for over mile charge for 1 year and that's not including $$ for premium fuel.
If I move to dtla apt, i think i'll ditch my car and get a bicycle to save some money.
What would you do???
