Edit: it won't let me change the title, which should say "Door lock"I'm trying to replace the deadbolt on my door. I bought the lock & discovered the existing hole is the wrong size and not quite the right distance from the edge.I bought an Irwin lock installation guide to drill a bigger hole (encompassing the old one). It came with a 2 1/8" hole saw to use with my drill. The problem is that my door has metal faces and a foam core. This door guide is plastic.I try to cut the new hole. The saw meets resistance from the metal plate and starts moving around the face of the door. Since the guide is plastic, it simply bends. The kit also came with 3/8" mandrel which, for a new hole, would provide some stability. But since I'm cutting around an old hole, the mandrel does cut anything. All I've accomplished is to scrape the paint off my door in an area slightly larger than the hole I'm trying to cut.How do I cut this hole straight, round, and in the right location if I can't rely on the guide? This saw wants to move against the metal, until I get it to bite, I can't seem to keep it straight. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2yAKeVw
