These boots (they also have a for life shoe) are "guaranteed" for life. If there is anything wrong with them, including ware, one can send them in under the warranty. TL;DR: read the itemized list below.
I bought these boots assuming that guaranteed for life = good quality so they don't have to service them often. Now, after purchase, I think their strategy is actually to make the boots cheaply in china and count on most folks not taking full advantage of the warranty. Oh yes, also make you pay for sending in the boots.
In my pair of boots the crease above the toe box of the left boot was quite deep (probably partially caused by a plastic reinforcement in the toe of the boot). It pinched my left toes eventually causing enough pain that I sent them in. Here's some things I've learned.
Some things I'd wished I'd known: * They do not service the boots they only replace them (but don't worry, they recycle the souls!). You get to break them in anew each time. * The warranty dose not cover getting the boots refunded. * To get the boots replaced you need to pay an additional $25 (as of October 17). When I first got them in February of17 that cost was $20 so it periodically goes up. * You also have to pay for shipping the boots to Portland OR which was an additional $10 for me but I'm only 100 miles away. * The boots have a pretty high heal * They also have plastic reinforcements in the toe that can cause a deep crease where the shoe bends that can pinch and hurt ones toes. * The leather is cheep and thin. The leather will start getting tore up pretty quick particularly if you work in them. I got a pretty big divot in one boot the first time I left the house with them on. * For some reason my pair wore through the provided laces really fast like within a few months. Laces are not covered by the warranty. * If time machine, would change time line and spend that $230 on a better boot.
I'll update with more info once my warranty claim is fully processed.
