I have a 90 year old home with a concrete basement. In total, there appears to be 3 drains. The first is sealed and appears to be from the toilets, it has a clean out access/plug. The second looks like it simply runs from the kitchen and provides drainage for the sinks in the home. The third is simply a 5" hole in the ground with no cover ( http://ift.tt/2yrNz9M ). When I moved in, the utility sink had waste pipes running into it. I also assume their washing machine also drained into it, since it's close to where the laundry was when I viewed it. In addition to these 3 drain points, there is another drain hole in the far corner of the basement, the floors are slighthy slanted towards this corner, so I assume this is for flood water to escape should the need arise. My question is this. I want to plumb the utility sink, humidifier and washing machine properly into this hole ( http://ift.tt/2xkx0b3) I bought some ABS fittings and I'm about to go ahead with the work. Is it safe to cap this hole? If so, what do I use? I was looking at things like this (http://ift.tt/2yr4qtl) but it doesn't seem right.Anyone have any clues? I've googled around, but the images I see tend to be for newer basements/solutions. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2wzQ7yc
