SO just got approved to receive SS disability in July. We received a back pay, most of which was sent to repay LTD. He just found out our kid can receive dependent benefits so he met with the SS office and they approved benefits for our child. We just received a back pay for the last year. What can we do with that? He was told by a friend receiving disability benefits that we have to keep track of how we use that money and that it must only be used for our kid. I'm not saying we'll use it on a crazy vacation or a new car, but can I put that into her 529 account for college? Just want to make sure we're compliant and no one comes after us for misuse of funds. TIA.
