Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone has got any good advice on investing for a first timer?

I am 22 years old and after a lifetime of saving, I have managed to save 20k (GBP) which I am very pleased about, obviously. I still live with my parents and I really don't have many outgoings asides from phone, spotify and netflix and I make just over 1k a month from my full time job.

I am looking to go work and travel for a bit (au pair, then TEFL), so I'm hoping I won't spend too much whilst out there. I am also hoping that once I've finished travelling, I will be able to move out of my parents house for good.

With the amount of savings I have behind me, I feel like it is a great opportunity to begin investing. However, I don't know much about it so I'm doing as much research as possible to make sure I don't just blow all my money.

I've considered buying a small house and renting it out whilst I travel, but it does seem like way too much of a financial risk. I've also considered putting my money into shares of different companies, but I don't know too much about it, I'm very worried about loosing money! What's a good way to start small?

Hope I didn't ramble too much! Any advice would be awesome :)
