My wife just started a new job and was given the option of a $2600 annual payout if she turns down the health/dental/vision benefits.

I work for the gov't and get good benefits so we'd be covered. I'm looking for any potential downsides (other than me losing my job) to her turning down the benefits. We have two children if that helps in any way.

EDIT: Thank you all for your replies. I asked her and she does have open enrollment annually so she can pick it up next year if necessary.
