Serious question.

I’m 27 and I moved to Japan about a year ago. Over the time, I managed to save around 1.000.000 yen together with my girlfriend. I know it is maybe not a lot, but coming from not very rich developing country, I actually never had that kind of money in my life. I also expect the amount to grow this year, as my salary will grow and expenditures probably won’t.

I don’t have degree in economics, but I’ve heard keeping cash in Japan is not a great idea, yen is volatile, and my heart sank a bit seeing Nintendo stock growing over the last few months, in which I could’ve put some money.

I do not plan on returning to my home country anytime soon, maybe move somewhere else in few years. I speak some Japanese, but I guess going through Nikkei every day is rather out of my reach.

How do I start investing and/or keeping my savings safe in Japan? Maybe someone here has some experience. Much appreciated!
