I have a very difficult time looking and feeling for clothing quality.
Some tips I heard- Feel the fabric, heavier is often better. Look at detailing, more details= better quality.
Over the years there are only a few things I personally learned the hard way.
American Eagle- No longer the quality it was 10 years ago. Jeans are paper thin under the guise 'stretchy'. Their clothes lose color upon the first wash.
American Apparel Polo Shirts- This might not be relevant anymore, but their polo shirts were about 1-2 inches shorter than needed to tuck in. Their button holes were also not reinforced.
H&M Shirts- I like H&M for their shorts because every year it seems shorts change fashion rules. Even if they fall apart, I am only out a few dollars. Their shirts however have been very low quality. Bad fit and short life.
High Quality-
Not to harp on 'Thrift Stores'.... But... I've had a great experience getting high quality shirts for a few dollars. If you can tailor and add Darts to shirts, they are better than fresh brand name IMO. If you don't have a sewing machine and youtube at your disposal, your selection will be limited to your size.
Anyway, Looking for some people to speak out about their experience at store quality.
