I'm posting this here because I've read a few threads about fashion and frugality in this subreddit that have influence my approach.

I recently noticed that my t-shirts that end up looking crappy fast are all cotton-poly blends. Then I listened to a podcast interview on RadioWest with the author who wrote Overdressed. The author talked about the obscene amount of clothes Americans buy in a year and then give away or throw out and how cotton is expensive so big merchants use blends to cut costs.

I've spent several hundred dollars on expensive licensed t-shirts that end up shrinking into weird, unwearable shapes because of the blend, I suppose. I'm not a fabric expert.

I bought an American Apparel T before they were bought out by Gildan and the store clerk told me the cotton-poly blend was to prevent shrinking. The shirt has peeled (sp?) and looks like crap now. I feel ripped off, essentially.

Why did I buy that AA shirt? I used to patronize Shirt Woot before they were absorbed by Amazon. They were the the best shirts. American Apparel. They fit well and were 100% cotton.

I'm sick of wasting money on crap clothing. I've gotten down to my ideal weight and want to have a capsule wardrobe. I'm searching fort he best Ts. And I think I've discovered that the worst fabric for Ts is cotton/poly blends.

TL;DR--have you found the best place to buy T shirts that don't end up sucking within a month or even 3 months of purchasing? I want some longevity. My assessment is that cotton-poly sucks. Have you found a better litmus test?
