This spring we will be taking down a carport that has around 40 or(likely) more 2x6x12s. in the roof. I plan to reuse all that are in good shape, then buy decent materials for the rest.We built a shed from a kit the summer before last at my mother's and it had 2x3 studs, 24" oc. I want something a bit better. Provided we get enough good, clean pieces from the shed, what would be the best option? 2x6, 24 oc, rip them in half and do 16"oc, or buy studs and do 16 or 24 oc?The floor most definitely will be 2x6's, 16 oc. And I'd like to use them for the roof, as well. Should I do trusses or a ridge beam?I will use OSB for the floor and roof sheathing, and t11 for the siding.(which I will one day cover up with grooved cedar shingle siding to match the house.)I plan to reuse a newer, nice window from an existing shed I plan to demo, and purchase a 36" bottom priced prehung fiberglass door.Any input on these plans is appreciated.
