Currently, my neighbours and I are having a shared internet subscription (with an ethernet cable inside of a plastic pipe underground). We have a 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up speeds and relatively low latency that we are sharing.

Essentially, each of us pays half of what we would have paid for, and the speed difference is hardly noticeable since we use the internet intensively at different times. You can also set up QoS and have an even lower perceivable loss in performance when sharing a connection.

Should be particularly useful if the internet costs are high in your area.
