Putting in a recessed medicine cabinet. The cab is large enough where I'm going to have to cut at least one wall stud, possibly two depending on their layout. The location of the cabinet is predetermined by the sink below it. I have not yet opened the wall.Question came up with a friend: is this something that will require permits? And, if permits needed, should I get a general contractor to do the framing stuff so it's all legal-type?I've done these before, they're not overly complicated, but I wanted to be sure we're doing it right. (For instance, we're calling in a plumber to move the water and drain lines below as we'll also be putting in a pedestal sink, even though I've also done those.)At this point, not sure if the wall is weight-bearing. If it is, does that necessitate a permit? If it is, will I need to shore up the ceiling if I cut just one (or two) studs? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2fc3g9C
