Some will argue that Air conditioners in general aren't frugal, but in many places you basically need them. I had a wedding this weekend and needed a gift, I got a $140 air conditioner for about $90. They had alot of them too and many options.
I've also purchased a few heaters in april and may for very low prices. If you get this kind of stuff at the end of the season its used for its generally cheap.
