Hello All! Brand new, new question. Appreciate any answers. I’ve got a house built in 1908. I love plaster, however, after taking down wallpaper, it’s been revealed that TONS of the plaster is loose from wall. I’d wager up to 25%-50% or more in some stretches of wall are just really loose and even a bit saggy. I’m guessing a lot of the keys are broken. I’ve repaired a few areas using the method in which you drill holes and then use caulking gun to put adhesive in (between plaster and lathe) and then use drywall buttons to hold until adhesive is dry. Seems to work more or less. However, I’m worried about 1. How long will it hold? 2. How many frickin’ tubes of adhesive I’ll need considering how much of the plaster is loose. 3. Even after I fix that I’m going to need to do a skim coat of joint compound (or maybe actual plaster?) and it seems to be skill intensive. Debating ripping down all the plaster and throwing drywall up. Can’t afford a plasterer to come do the whole place right now –though I’d prefer that. Any advice? THANK YOU!I've also posted in another sub. DIY seems massive and has a ton of know-how. So, I've posted here. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ffwOqi
