I'm 19. Female. I've been paying my mom $450 in rent since I was 16. I pay for my own food and clothing but I've always worked food service jobs to be able to have access to food and not have to spend too much on groceries.
Currently work at a buffet so that when we close at night, I get to take whatever I want. I also have a small dog (her food only costs me $25 a month and she's been spayed, trained, etc).
My mom is moving across the country, and won't let me go with her. Not that I actually want to. If I move out of state now my costs for school will double, if not triple. I'm currently enrolled in community college, and partially rely on financial aid. She's also taking the truck my dad gave me (but that's ok -- spending $200 a month on gas was really killing me...) so I would need an apartment and a car.
The apartments within walking distance to my school are all out of my price range for sure. My CC is 100 miles away from me at the moment, and the cheapest side of town to live on in that city is 30 miles away from the school. I've checked public transport, and none run a route along both.
I don't have any friends I could live with, nor any family I could ask for help.
I have: $400 in my checking account $2500 in my savings account $1600 in credit card debt (from text books/school) with a $100 monthly payment 546 credit score
I would need to spend (monthly): $500 on rent (?) $30 on my dog $50 on phone bill
and I have no idea how much a car payment and insurance would run me since I have trash credit and no cosigner.
I've already made a resume and started applying to jobs in that city, and already had two job offers. Both are minimum wage however.
Of course, I would get a roommate, but at most I would be making $800 a month at work, and $300 a month with my side hustles. I don't believe I would be able to afford rent and a car with that. I also have to keep paying her rent until she moves (3 months from now). What do I do?
Edit: my dog is not going anywhere. Ever. She's been with my family since she was born, and at 8 lbs she's practically free to feed. I know, this is spoiled and incredibly American-like, but she is family.
