So I was just checking my mint credit "report" (I know it's not the real thing, I just like to use it to understand how my credit is affected by my accounts). I came across an account that states I have $20k on a chase card ...I paused and realized THATS NOT MINE. my max credit limit is 10k and I'm okay with that. Also, I don't have a chase card!
After freaking out for 10 minutes because holy-shit-someone-ruined-my-credit & HOLYSHIT how will I buy my new car next week (?!?) my boyfriend goes "wait. I think that's my card. I added you as an authorized user."
I didn't realize this would be reflected on my credit report. I don't use his card, and luckily he doesn't make late payments but WTF this is a big hit to my report. Or so I think. I'll be honest, I'm not well-versed in this stuff.
What do I do? Will this affect my credit when I apply for an upcoming car loan? Should I ask him to remove me? I don't like seeing a maxed card on my report. How would that affect me?
Thanks in advance.
