I'm 23 years old. I've lived at home all my life. I would probably have had better life experiences if my past wasn't as much a mess (dad died of cancer, I became a shut-in for the time he was alive, and my mother "babied" me). I was in an LDR and was planning to move out to be with her, but that went downhill and I just want to get out of this environment and start living my own life.
Here are the facts about me:
- I live in the UK
- I have a full-time job as a Software Developer, make a pretty decent wage and don't have any contracts. The only thing I have to pay back is my student loan.
- I'll be moving in with my brother. He's like my best friend and we get on well with each other and mind each other's business.
- I can cook. I just don't know what to cook. Most recipes I find online look far too exquisite or take too long to prepare, and I only want to cook for one or two people maximum.
- I lead a relatively healthy lifestyle. I always drink green tea, no alcohol, no smoking, no fast food, rarely snack out. When I get home from work my mom usually has a meal ready for me. She makes me the same as everyone else, but sometimes I'd prefer not to have the things she makes.
- Work isn't far. I get a lift to work from my mom's partner in the morning, and then a lift home from work by a workmate who lives nearby. My brother tells me he will take me to work in the morning (he lives on his own and has no job as he is partially disabled).
- I can't drive but I want to learn ASAP. My brother says he will teach me.
So I'm going into this relatively blind. Any advice? Thanks!
