Hello!I am making a new coffee table for my husband while he is deployed. The majority of it I have already figured out, and the top will look similar to the top of this table, with a shallow depression in the center (about 2 inches deep).I mean to fill that depression with sand, then imprint our dogs' paw prints into the sand. Then I'd like to fill it with resin to preserve it, and make the depression flush with the surface of the table. The depression or sand tray will be about 1 foot x 1 foot x ~2 inches before I put sand in it. I'm very familiar with epoxy, but only in the context of building airplanes and solidifying joints/securing bolts. Nothing that requires a large, compact volume curing at once.So my questions are as follows:Should I do anything to "fix" the sand before pouring in the resin? Or should pouring it slowly, carefully, and close to the surface be enough to prevent the sand from being disturbed?Should I pour thinner layers and let them cure as I go? Or should I just pour it all in one go?Any tips to avoid air bubbles?and finally, do you have any product recommendations? I was going to get my sand from Hobby Lobby, and maybe the resin from Amazon or the like. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xh7RRP
