I'm 20 and in college and looking to buy my first car. I want it to look nice but at the same time be affordable and honestly I don't know what I can afford. I make roughly between 1300-1500$ a month and the only thing I have to pay for is rent which is around 400$ a month. I would also like to set around 20-30% of my money aside for 20% retirement and 10% toward an engagement ring that I am saving for in the future. This leaves me with about 700$ a month extra cash. I could spend a little more if needed. What should I buy? Should I just wait? I have a 1992 Toyota Camery which only has 116k miles. I don't NEED a new car. But I would like one and would like to start doing uber or lyft.
