So as the title suggests, I'm looking to install a series of LED strip lighting on the ceiling in my basement. There is a bulkhead in the center of the ceiling and I wanted to install the strips behind it, where there used to be those industrial tube lights that buzzed like a swarm of bees. All the tutorials I've been reading/watching have included people connecting their LED strips to a power outlet. Behind that bulkhead I have 3 light receptacles (not sure if this is the right word, but the exposed wires that you would connect a ceiling lamp to).Do LED strips need to be connected to an outlet? Or do those wires produce the same amount of power/wattage?Come to think of it, would I be able to install an outlet on the exposed positive/negative wires behind the bulkhead and use that to connect the LED strips to?If absolutely necessary I can provide pictures of the situation if this is not clear. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2htSmAm
