So my dog is due a rabies shot. That means a trip to the vet. I know the vet will perform an exam that is fine, but then he will push routine blood work and heartworm test (has been on preventative, only goes out to make and walk and we live in Chicago I think it is as likely as Ebola). He will also need to get more heartworm medication Sentinel next month.
Do you think it is ok to say just do the exam and give the fricking shot? I am not a big believer in "routine" blood work and heartworm tests on an otherwise healthy dog.
Also, every time, we get into it over prescriptions at the Vet's office. They are very resistant to writing prescriptions for online pharmacies like Foster and Smith or Petmeds giving a spiel on quality. It is not like I am buying it off Ebay and having it shipped from China. I know if I press the issue state law in Illinois is they have to provide a written prescription.
How do you handle it?
