I'm curious how others handle discussions on investing with others. For me, I don't usually discuss investing unless someone brings it up, and even then I'm cautious. I would really like to talk to others about it, but I have a feeling that it would make others think I am judging them for "wasting" money on cars and expensive toys, when in fact I don't give a shit how others spend their hard earned money. I just consider my brokerage account to be one of my hobbies.
When I get asked something like "are you going to upgrade your car after your recent promotion?" I usually just cop out with "no, I'm going to put more towards my student loans," when in fact I'm dumping more into my brokerage account. Anyone else ever get this feeling?
