I'm currently building a desk from pine for my room and I'm in the process of finishing it right now. I've stained the wood and I've applied three coats of minwax fast-drying polyurethane, and this wasn't getting as smooth as i liked so I thinned the poly 50/50 with mineral spirits to wipe on. I've just finished applying the first coat of thinned poly and plan on doing two more. My question is after I am finished with my final coat what should I do? I've seen many different options online, some people say to use steel wool with wax and others say to wet sand with very fine sandpaper.
