Hi DIYers, the house we recently bought came with a bar in pieces. Now that I'm 99% done with the basement renovations, we propped up the top Sopastone countertop on the bar and it fits perfectly. The thing must weight about 200 lbs and I'm pretty sure it's soapstone with some sort of urethane or epoxy black paint on top (see holes picture). It definitely came from a laboratory (we're in a college town). It had some glue where the bachsplash would've been and I chiselled that away. I sanded the area with 120 grit and it's smooth like talcum powder. The question is, How do I remove the paint to make the soapstone the star? Any pointers are welcome.PS: to ensure it is stone and not a resin top, I heated up a pin 'till red hot and poked the side. It didn't do anything. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ffcBRx
